The programs of Child and Family Studies (CHFS) and Psychology (PSYC) in the Faculty of Arts and Science at invite applications for 2 (two) 10-month Limited Term Appointment (LTA) positions. One LTA position involves a joint appointment between CHFS and PSYC. For this position, teaching, research, and/or professional experience across Indigenous, Child, and Youth Mental Health fields is considered an asset. The professional experience may include roles in child/youth/family services and supports across various sectors. The second LTA position is within CHFS, where the successful candidate should be prepared to teach core courses in the program. These positions are located in North Bay, Ontario.

Child and Family Studies and Psychology at Nipissing University offer Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programming, designed to balance theory, research, and application. With a focus on applied child and human development and family wellbeing, the CHFS program offers Certificates in Applied Behavioural Sciences (ABS), Early Intervention (EI), and Program Evaluation & Applied Research. Students have opportunities to work with children and families in professional settings, through practicum placements, projects, and research. The PSYC programs also have a strong tradition of directly involving students in laboratory and applied research.

Candidate qualifications include:

Completion or near completion of a Ph.D. in applied psychology, counselling, applied developmental science, applied health studies, applied behavioural science/studies, social work, or a related field to child, youth, and family wellbeing. A scholar-practitioner with experience working with Indigenous children and families, child/youth mental health, neurodevelopmental disabilities, assessment, and treatment/intervention across fields that support children and families. A demonstrated record of teaching at the post-secondary level. A demonstrated active research agenda related to the fields of PSYC and CHFS. Experience and background to supervise students in placement (EI & ABS) and liaise with community programs and professionals in the applied health/mental health sector.
