Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking an experienced Electrician for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Facilities Maintenance Department. You will be accountable for installing and maintaining new and existing electrical infrastructure by replacing, repairing, upgrading, and servicing associated conduit, wiring and equipment for all electrical and fire alarm systems. You will ensure quality control for new building electrical installations and renovation projects. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Commercial electrical installation for all equipment, wiring, conduit, and electrical distribution infrastructure. Installs or modifies electrical infrastructure according to appropriate codes, including infrastructure for building automation and security alarm systems. Responsible for repairing, replacing, and troubleshooting electrical power

Skills  

The successful incumbent will possess: 

HVAC and Building Automation knowledge Strong computer and technical skills Effective communication skills Self-motivated qualities and committed team player Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues Ability to meet physical demands: frequent lifting, bending, climbing, walking and use of heavy tools, ladders and equipment

Qualifications  

A high school diploma with Journeyman Electrician Certification and Red Seal. Minimum of five years of broad, extensive commercial construction electrical expertise (background) required for:New commercial construction electrical installationsCommercial Electrical Construction/Renovation expertiseCommercial Electrical Service background Broad experience in commercial electrical construction, renovations, and service. Extensive commercial Fire Alarm Experience: troubleshooting, repairing, and installing new conduit, wire, and fire alarm devices. 

Position Requirements

Possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License 24-hour emergency call-out on a rotating basis
