As part of Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), the Rehabilitation Oncology (RO) team- which includes OT, PT, SLP, TAs and physiatrists- is growing as we move to the new Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (ACCC). We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our team. This position will primarily work on the inpatient units with the opportunity to support/ orient to outpatient services. Care is delivered in various formats (1:1, groups, in-person, virtual care).Participate in case consultation, rounds, working groups and provincial oncology meetingsParticipates in case management/discharge planning, creating well supported transitions across the continuum of care.Co-develop and deliver patient educationMentor/ educate staff and students Support cross-coverage across inpatient units and outpatient areas to ensure continuity of patient care. Hours and caseloads associated with Supportive Care positions may change based on operational needs. Note: This posting will be used to hire four FTE positions: FTE for Intensive Palliative Care Unit 95 and Medical Oncology/ Radiation Oncology Unit 125 FTE for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematology Units 105 and 119.
Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention ( prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of oncology experience in an urban adult inpatient or outpatient setting.Minimum 3 years working in a palliative care environment.Neurorehabilitation experience.Certified Lymphedema Therapist status ( Klose, Vodder, Norton).Professional development within the last 12 months related to oncology.Experience facilitating groups and classes.AADL authorizer for compression garments and/ or mobility aids.
