Job Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Proven ability to work independently and plan prioritiesPerform repairs and provide preventive maintenanceProvide technical support and decision-making during breakdown situationsTrouble shoot processing equipment as neededProvide electrical services for machinery in accordance to the local codes and standardsProgram and trouble shoot PLCs as required is an asset.Inspect all electrical installation, specifically transformers and switch gearsProvide written reports of work required for repairs and upgrades Maintain all electrical wiring and switch gears such as to ensure operator safety and machine integrityCollaborate and cooperate with millwrights to speed up repair and maintenanceInstall and commission new machineryProvide leadership and training for junior electriciansSet up and tear down processes of equipmentWork closely with production supervisors to schedule machine down time for major repairsWork in a professional manner and with a positive and helpful mindsetStrong awareness of health and safety issues; showing responsibility for oneself and othersPerform other duties as instructed by supervisorAll employees are responsible for food and safety qualityAll employees are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES (Behavioural & Technical Skills)

Hands on knowledge of packaging machinesGood understanding of AC and DC motorsExcellent knowledge of VFD, servo motors and servo drivesWorking knowledge of PLC and computerized machinery is an assetProven ability to work independently and plan prioritiesAbility to work in team based environment and also work independently in a proactive mannerUnderstand preventive maintenance concepts and computerized work order systemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to provide quality customer serviceHas a “Safety first and always” attitude towards work, oneself, and the colleaguesMust be able to work together with team members of other trades and share the workload

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

Electrician ticket and minimum four years of industrial experience and PLC programming certificate/ training, orElectrical and or electronic training at college or university level and three years of practical experience in food processing plants.Class 4 Boiler Ticket is an advantage.
