About the role
On-site | Seasonal | Junior Level
This position will primarily assist in the laboratory with support for microbiology testing as well as general support of sample receipt and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysis of microbiology samples, cleaning and preparing lab ware and materials under direction of the lead microbiologist or lab supervisor; Prepare reagents, calibration and quality controls standards, sample dilutions, duplications and spikes; Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation; Organise workload to meet Turnaround Times (TAT’s) and hold times; Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements; Follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements; Work independently as well as part of a team; Maintain a clean and safe work environment; Other duties to support laboratory operations may include: Take bottle order request from clients and prepare bottle order shipments; Receive, inspect, inventory and Interpret client chain of custodies; Work with the team to provide quality and efficient services to our clients. Other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor.Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 qualification or equivalent required; 1 to 2 years’ experience working in an analytical laboratory or environmental science (asset); Lab technician training or knowledge of environmental sciences (asset); Some experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment an asset, but not required; Intermediate English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading) is required; Good computer skills for data entry; Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety (asset); Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances; Ability to sit or stand for a full shift;Working at ALS

An estimated hourly pay of $21.88 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
