Contracting Inc. (“RF”) is a multi-trade mechanical contractor operating throughout Northern Ontario for over 40 years. Projects range in size from $100,000 to $3,000,000 and include a combination of disciplines that include pipefitting, ironworking, and civil.

Reporting to the Piping Superintendent, RF is seeking a Piping/Plumbing Estimator to join its growing team. This position will be responsible for supporting all phases of the project life-cycle, including: opportunity identification, tendering, front end planning, execution and close out. This position involves working on a full-range of commercial and industrial projects to analyze costs, prepare estimates, and provide technical support to project operations as it relates to estimating, planning and scheduling, monitoring the progress of projects, and dealing with project changes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Compile, analyze and complete tender documents for review and submission Review request for proposals (“RFP”) issued by clients Develop sub-contract, proposal, and estimating strategies Ensure estimates align with execution and cost management requirements Apply technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications, and drawings Prepare detailed, accurate, professional estimates by calculating material quantity take offs, equipment and labour rates for tender verification Review and evaluate vendor and sub-contractor quotes Attend and participate in site-visits, as well as pre-bid and post-bid meetings Establish and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness Communicate all successful tender information to operations team and set delivery plan Complete bid certifications prior to the submission of tender documentation Willing to work in field in trade when required Perform other duties, as required

Qualifications and Skills:

Journeyman Plumbing or Pipe-fitting ticket is an asset – Must be willing to join UA800 Previous experience working with a mechanical contractor an asset TSSA experience an asset Estimating in field, such as mechanical, pipefitting, HVAC, sprinkler-fitting, and plumbing is an asset. Fluent in reading mechanical, process and control drawings, single line drawings Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Project Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Upholds the value of a safe, efficient, and productive work environment Solid team player with a positive attitude Thrives on managing multiple priorities and project deadlines Experience working in Northern Ontario an asset

Working Conditions:

The standard work week for this position is 40 hours (8 hours a day, 5 days a week). As with many careers in construction, there are peak periods that will require you to work overtime. The number of additional hours you work each week depends on the construction sector and region you work in, and will vary from one job to the next.
