We’re looking for a Lower School Music Teacher starting in September . You’ll be reporting to our Head of Lower School and Preschool and working collaboratively with our Lower School faculty and staff to deliver an exceptional educational music programme for our young learners.

Teaching music education to Lower School students (Grades 1 to 5) to help them grow in their enjoyment, appreciation and performance of music through a variety of music experiences including singing, moving to music, listening and participating in school performances; Preparing, developing and implementing engaging music lesson plans for Lower School students that build knowledge through exploratory and experimental learning; Planning and conducting musical activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate and solidify grade appropriate concepts; Helping support Bayview Glen’s choir programme as well as Lower School concerts and musicals; Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students;  Observing and evaluating each student’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health; Promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the BVG “Whole Child, Whole Life and Whole World” educational philosophy.

What You’ll Need:

An undergraduate degree in music education or related field from an accredited college or university; Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary/Junior or equivalent; A member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Teachers; A minimum of 2 years’ direct music teaching experience at the Primary/Junior level; Additional qualifications in music; Ability to utilize a vast variety of musical accompaniments such as piano, guitar, technology and voice in your teachings;  A love of children and music; Ability to create a warm and inviting learning environment that supports the needs of different learning styles; Inspiring a love of music in students with an amazing attitude and ability to be patient, understanding, and enthusiastic; The desire to build a long-term relationship with your students and with our community; Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school community;
