The Opportunity:

This management position provides leadership,direction and continued development of the Electrical Planning section of theElectric Light & Power department. Responsible for the technical,operational and safety performance of the transmission system, substations,bulk distribution system and overall system function, the position demonstratesappropriate stewardship of financial and other departmental resources toachieve the section’s goals and objectives in delivery of effective service toour customers. As a key member of the department’s leadership team, there areongoing opportunities to represent the department and establish collaborativerelationships with a wide variety of stakeholders within the community andother professional and political environments.

As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

B.Sc. Electrical Engineering Membership in APEGA Eight to ten years of experience in the design,construction, operation and maintenance of electric transmission anddistribution systems, with eight years in execution and management of capitaland maintenance projects Extensive knowledge and experience in SCADA operationand maintenance Management / supervisory experience with increasingresponsibilities Thorough knowledge of Alberta Electric Utility Codesand Regulations Excellent communications and interpersonal skills tofunction appropriately with field staff, technical personnel, seniormanagement, external stakeholders and elected officials. Demonstrated commitment to training, mentoring,coaching and team building. Collaborative problem solving and issues resolution. Excellent analysis, assessment and decision makingskills. Knowledge of project management practices andprinciples would be beneficial. A valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’sLicense with an acceptable driving record.

Affiliation:

Exempt

Remuneration:

$117,406 to $146,757 per annum.

Hours of Work:

80 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekendwork may be required.
