OVERVIEW

Reporting to the QC Supervisor the Lead Quality Inspector is responsible for maintaining quality standards as it relates to examining and inspecting purchased materials, in-process product (WIP) and finished products for workmanship, material defects and dimensional compliance. This position also ensures conformance with product specifications, work instructions, inspection instructions and quality standard; recording quality results, initiating Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) as required and assists in containment and corrective actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspects products through all stages of production to the finished and packaged cycle. Assists in examining incoming materials from suppliers by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests before accepting into inventory, assists in trouble shooting material issues through the production cycle when required. Visual and physical inspection - colour, shapes, textures, or grades and soft goods workmanship of products or materials with charts, templates, instructions, or samples to ensure consistency and conformity. Inspection of work in-process (WIP) production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement checks; identifying and recording nonconformances, communicating required adjustments to Operators, Production Line Leads, Production and QC Supervisors Verifies conformance of finished products by sampling and confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; identifying and recording nonconformances, making recommendations for returning products for re-work; confirming re-work. Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into appropriate tracking system(s). Assists with creating various types of reports, work or inspection instructions and identifying appropriate inspection and measurement tools to improve inspection consistency and efficiency and ensure on time delivery of Quality Product Tests, measures, and analyzes products using calibrated instruments and equipment. Assists with internal production audits and ensures PSP is meeting company, customer, and applicable quality and regulatory (e.g., NIJ) standards related to the manufacturing process. Produces reports by documenting and recording issues and assists in initiating NCRs, Corrective Actions and other documents as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 2-year college diploma and/or a combination of proven work experience related to the position. 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferably in textile manufacturing Excellent communication skills both orally and written; ability to create concise and detailed reports. Excellent people and reasoning skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Good working knowledge of production, design and quality processes Good working knowledge of the requirements of a Quality Management System, e.g. ISO 9001:2015 Strong computer skills; MS Office software – MS Word, Excel, internet Experience with MS AX Dynamics ERP system an asset ASQ Certified Quality Technician an asset Ability to trouble shoot, gather facts, analyze information, document and report results. Strong math skills Familiar with trouble shooting skills such as Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, etc.
