OVERVIEW

This position reports to the Plant Manager and breakdown of percentage of duties outlined below:

25% of the time: The Prime contact for all sub-contractors working at the site during and after hours. Supervises, schedules and coordinates subcontractors and trades, in maintaining, repairing, and renovating of leased facilities.

75% of the time: The incumbent is responsible for equipment validation which includes the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all production equipment and tooling within the Pembroke facility. The position ensures maximum machine productivity while ensuring the equipment produces the highest degree of Quality output.

RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Proactively plans and manages the work to be performed in the preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment, and facility building and exterior groundsPrimary contact for all service, maintenance contracts, and works with landlords/property managers to ensure quick response to facility needsCoordinates work with other departments; determines, establishes, and publishes priorities to meet work schedules, and provides regular updates on projects or initiatives as required

MACHINE MAINTENANCE

Trouble shooting equipment failures and executing repairs quickly to ensure maximum equipment uptimeResponsible for ensuring sufficient Spare Parts Inventory are on hand for common failure partsInitiating Quotations and Purchase Requisitions for replacement parts as well as production supplies and servicesDeveloping and fabricating custom fixtures such as guarding, work aides, guides, etc.Executing and recording preventative maintenance program for production equipment and building maintenance, creating / updating maintenance instructions and LOTO instructions as necessaryMaintaining and filing of all production equipment manualsCompletes risk assessments on new equipment to ensure what has been received is compliant before it is put into Production ex. (Voltage, CSA compliant, necessary guarding is in place) and sewn off to ensure it fully complies with workmanship standardsMaintenance and general repair of carts, work aides, cutting tables, including custom equipment, ex. chalking tableAssisting with production cell set ups ex. building airlines, equipment plugs, helping with equipment moves to ensure the machines are up and running to minimize downtime

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Ensures facilities and occupants including subcontractors maintain compliance to all health, safety and security standards including but not limited to ARC Flash, PPE, and LOTO procedures. An active member or the Health and Safety Committee, taking actions to implement corrective actions identified to support Plant H&S, participates / leads risk assessments, environmental assessments, and facility inspectionsOversees the preventative maintenance and certification schedules for the facilities and all equipment used in production and soft goods engineering– including building systems, compressors, dryers, machinery, ladders, material lifts, hoists, presses, as outlined in QPulse as required

FACILITY PROJECTS

Interprets specifications and blueprints and explains job orders to subordinates or contractors.Coordinates and reports progress on construction activities to ensure attainment of approved budget and schedule objectives.Assists facility and Capital equipment budget preparation, attains quotations, tracks actual costsParticipates as necessary in audits, inspections, and assists with set up and tear down with other planned company events and social committee initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary technical college diploma, ie Mechanical, Millwright, Hydraulics, HVAC or equivalent training and experience. 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance roll within a Mechanical / Industrial manufacturing setting. Sewing machine/mechanical experience preferred, Sewing Machine Mechanic Technician Certificate would be considered an asset. Basic Computer Skills required. 2 – 3 years previous facilities, security, and property management experience Professional and highly organized Possesses leadership skills, effective communicator, and is team orientated. High energy, adapts well to change and has a strong customer service attitude. High ethics and values, approachable and works co-operatively with others.
