Graduate Geotechnician

AECOM is searching for a Graduate Geotechnician. This position can be based out of one of our offices in Ontario.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs a variety of tasks in support of engineering office and field staff.
- Complete testing and assessment of various construction materials including soil, rock, concrete, grout, asphalt, geotextiles.
- Attend projects experiencing problematic ground conditions, perform measurements and record observations. Liaison with project engineering staff to determine cost effective, realistic solutions.
- Complete granular and soils material sampling,.
- Coordinate with utility locators, sub-contractor representatives and other on-site personnel
- Assist with mobilization and demobilization of project related equipment.
- Filing project-related notes/drawings according to project requirements
- Assist with preparation of field instructions Health and Safety plans.
- Assist with general data entry, analysis and preparing documents.
- Collection of environmental samples (soil and water) for chemical assessment in support of construction activities
- Assist with other environmental field scopes of work as required.
- Communicate with Senior Engineering Staff as to any field observations or equipment needs during project work.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Civil or Geological Engineering Technology with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.
- Availability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good understanding of soils
- Past experience in geotechnical drilling (Soil logging, insitu site testing, rock core logging) Would be a definite asset.
