Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Charge MRI Technologist for Brandon and Dauphin MRI with base location of Brandon, Manitoba. Position includes all aspects of the technical operation, efficiency and productivity of the MRI computerized scanner(s) and related components, performing and assisting radiologists in the performance of MRI examinations, overall MRI training and technical supervision of MRI imaging personnel, developing and/or making recommendations for procedural methods within the area, assisting with student teaching programs. acting as a resource person for nursing clerical personnel, and other professionals.

Experience

Minimum of four years of MRI experience required. Past experience in a charge capacity preferred. Experience working in MR research an asset. Pediatric MRI experience an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Graduation from a recognized and accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology which consists of a minimum of two years of training. Must have successfully completed a diploma or University Certificate MRI program recognized by the C.A.M.R.T.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.  Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

Must exhibit good interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements

Stands and moves about during most of the working day. Bends, reaches, lifts and carries materials and equipment for short distances. At times, may be required to push or pull heavy equipment. Lifts and positions patients, some of whom are in a state of complete unconsciousness. The incumbents may be exposed to disagreeable elements such as noise from the equipment, contagious diseases, and anesthetic gases. Will be working in close proximity to very strong magnetic fields; electronic implants, prostheses, ferromagnetic implants may not be compatible with this working environment, etc.

When travel is required to the secondary location, the following expenses are covered: transportation, accommodation, per diem as per MAHCP CA while working at secondary location
