COSC 3P71 - Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

1230-1400 Mondays & Wednesday

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty). The course will be offered in-person on the Brock campus.

Qualifications

1. PhD in Computer Science with primary research focus in artificial intelligence, or currently registered full-time in a PhD in Computer Science with focus in artificial intelligence. In addition, an MSc in computer science with research focus in artificial intelligence.

2. Active research in artificial intelligence.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental topics in AI, including search, knowledge representation, computational intelligence, machine learning, and applications of AI.

4. Evidence of previous successful teaching experience at a University level, including: a) syllabus design; b) preparation and presentation of course material; c) design of evaluation tools ( tests, assignments); d) design of evaluation methods ( marking rubric); and e) student evaluations from previous instructional experience.
