Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Long Term Care team at Banfield Pavilions at Vancouver General Hospital and Banfield at Villa Cathay, working as a Physiotherapy Assistant. Apply today to join our team

As a Physiotherapy Assistant you will:

Function under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, practice supervision of the Physiotherapy Practice Coordinator, and the work direction of the designated physiotherapist in coordination with other interdisciplinary team members to carry out established rehabilitative activities within the physiotherapy (PT) scope of practice. Perform responsibilities including: receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of PT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for mobility and independence, providing functional direction to patients/clients/residents and family, and assisting/practicing daily living skills. Report relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours. Provide direction to volunteers. Organize and clean equipment and supplies, and maintain an established inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
