Maintenance Electrician

Black & McDonald Ltd. is looking to hire an experienced maintenance electrician for the FMO Division at the Air Canada Data Centre. This position reports to the Contract Manager and is responsible for the overall electrical systems in the facility, including but not limited to electrical inspections, routine maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and performing service/repairs. As a maintenance electrician, you should have high-level problem-solving skills, extensive experience working with commercial electrical systems, and good communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and service on electrical systems such as breakers and switchboard components, branch circuit wiring, transformers, electro/pneumatic control devices, etc. Operate and service chillers, boilers, UPS systems, power generation equipment, air handling units, computer room air conditioners, pumps, compressors, etc. Respond to system faults to identify and mitigate hazards. Troubleshoot and repair electrical system failures. Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute various facility electrical projects and maintenance. Manage inventory of electrical equipment, materials, and supplies. Schedule, supervise, and monitor subcontractors. Perform after hours work as required by tenant maintenance block times. Shift coverage for Building Operators when needed. Provide suggestions for equipment replacement complete with estimates and proposal. Write electrical maintenance reports. Adhere to safety and performance standards.Competency Requirements (Skilled to Advanced Level)

High school diploma or GED. Valid Journeyman Electrical License Proven work experience as a Maintenance Electrician. Familiarity with commercial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code. Ability to read and understand blueprints. Good problem-solving skills. Previous experience with Building Automation Systems considered an asset. Excellent trouble shooting and interpersonal skills. Bending and lifting required – under 30kgs. Must be able to work on ladders or scaffolding at various heights. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal. Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees and customers. Clear and courteous two-way radio and/or telephone etiquette. A team player committed to working in a quality environment. Able to work independently with limited supervision.
