Our Team: Financial Services


division is responsible for accounting and reporting on the financial transactions of the University including specifically accounting and treasury, procurement and payables, collection services, financial systems and training and providing excellent client service, advising and assisting departments on research, budgetary and financial matters, policies and processes. We support the University by managing its financial affairs in an efficient, innovative and professional manner. We are dedicated to providing leadership, information, training, support and advice.

Shipping, Receiving and Mail Services provides a vital link for all mail and packages to move efficiently within and beyond our campus. We handle all inbound, outbound and internal mail and items being transferred via the Inter-University Transit System (IUTS).

The Opportunity

The Materials Handler - Chemicals and Hazardous Materials will receive and receive all incoming mail, courier and truck shipments of materials and supplies including the chemicals and hazardous materials delivered to the University’s central receiving. Key responsibilities will include barcode scanning and logging shipments received into the University’s Shipment Tracking System. Additionally, the Materials Handler will direct received shipments for delivery and transports shipment to the “ship to” departments. In cases of emergency, material spills etc, the Materials Handler will follow all necessary procedures and assist with mailroom activities.

Work environment

Frequent exposure to potential hazards, routine and/or repetitive work (administrative, tactical and physical). Frequent exposure to noise, dust or inclement weather etc.
 

Qualifications

Secondary school diploma Minimum 1 year of work experience in shipping and receiving, mailroom that includes, handling of chemical, hazardous and dangerous goods An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Experienced with the following equipment – shipping systems (UPS and Purolator), pallet lifter, manual pallet jack and PDA scanner. Experience or exposure to using a forklift is an asset Demonstrated knowledge of completing waybills and bills of landing etc. Attention to detail for completing shipping and deliveries accurately and efficiently Valid “G” level driver’s license and Ontario driving record abstract in good standing in order to drive and deliver materials and equipment by cargo and cube van to university departments on downtown campus First Aid and CPR certification preferred WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification Candidates must be “Bondable”
