REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Manager, Human Resources

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Talent Acquisition

  • Administers full-cycle recruitment for all external nursing and allied health hiring, and other roles as assigned, in partnership with hiring managers and in consultation with Human Resources Business Partners.

 

  • Plans and implements recruitment strategies to attract and hire talent, taking into account internal and external market factors, including career fairs, identification of talent pipelines (passive and active), and the development of advertising campaigns in partnership with Corporate Communications, as applicable.

 

  • Develops job descriptions, job postings, and interview/selection guides.

 

  • Coordinates and participates in interviews.

 

  • Provides advice and guidance to hiring managers on candidate selection.

 

  • Acts as liaison between hiring managers and candidates.

 

  • Responsible for maintaining records related to recruitment, including updating new hire information into the Human Resources Information System.

 

  • Serves as a brand ambassador for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare.

 

Talent On-boarding

 

  • Prepares new hire documentation, such as offer letters, new employee documentation packages.

 

  • Participates in new employee orientation.

 

  • Provides back-up coverage for Corporate Education Coordinator in facilitating new employee orientation.

 

 

 

Data and Reporting

 

  • Responsible for maintaining recruitment metrics and reporting.

 

Special Projects

 

  • Coordinates and maintains the Employee Referral Program and other talent attraction incentives and strategies.

 

  • Acts as lead for government funded healthcare recruitment programs such as: Nursing Graduate Guarantee; Community Commitment Program for Nurses; Clinical Extern Program; Tuition Support Program; and others.

 

  • Administers employee retention and exit surveys and reports on data, identifying trends, themes and actions.

 

  • Assists in the development and revision of related Human Resources policies and procedures.

 

  • Other project work as assigned.

 

Other Responsibilities

 

·         Maintains current knowledge of employment legislation and collective agreements.

 

·         Maintains an active professional human resources/recruitment network.

 

·         Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning by maintaining professional growth through seminars, workshops, formal learning activities and conferences.

 

·         Supports workforce planning initiatives under the direction of the Associate Vice President, People, as required.

 

·         As member of Human Resources team, works collaboratively to identify and meet the needs of our people.

 

·         Conducts research for program development and support related to MAHC’s Strategic Human Resources Plan.

 

·         Attends and participates in internal committee meetings as required.

 

·         Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION:

 

·         University degree or Community College Certificate in Human Resources, or a related discipline.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

·         Three (3) years’ experience in human resources leading high-volume, full cycle recruitment in a unionized environment, preferably in the healthcare sector.

 

·         Demonstrated success in developing recruitment strategies aimed at recruiting to hard-to-fill vacancies.

 

·         Experience in candidate sourcing, focused advertising strategies and developing talent pipelines, including experience with various sourcing techniques and social media channels.

 

·         Excellent computer proficiency with the ability to develop engaging presentations and materials aimed at attracting top talent.

 

·         Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.

 

·         Comfortable presenting and promoting information to various audiences.

 

·         Demonstrated initiative, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

 

·         Exceptional time management and organizational skills with orientation toward detail.

 

·         Demonstrated tact and professionalism, with the ability to recognize, manage and protect highly sensitive and confidential information.

 

·         Ability to adapt to change and work efficiently in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

 

·         Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights Legislation. 

 

·         Strong working knowledge of collective agreements.

 

·         Strong data management, analysis and reporting skills.

 

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

·         Experience with human resources information systems and applicant tracking systems, an asset.

 

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: 

 

·         Current Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation, or actively working towards.

 

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Ability to work within a multi-site organization considering departmental and organizational goals as part of the decision making process.

 

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

 

·         This is a multi-site organization requiring travel and involvement in activities and projects at all sites.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

Location: Multi-Site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. 

 

Department: Human Resources

 

Hours of Work: Currently Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00 pm. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the organizational needs. 

 

As a condition of employment, external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
