Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) candidates, completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program is required along with successful completion of the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) exam. Current experience in Biochemistry and Hematology required. Proven interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent public relation and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, inter-disciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible. Current phlebotomy experience including venipuncture, micropuncture, blood culture and Type and Screen on all ages and patient types. Cardiology experience including holter monitors and ECG. Macro and microscopic urinalysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care Epic, Unity Real Time, MUSE and Cardioday experience and knowledge is preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting. Familiar with Ortho Vitros XT 3400, DxH 600, Clinitek Advantus, ACL Elite Pro instruments and Access II.
