Manager, Scenario Planning & Program Effectiveness (Data Science) will work as a business partner, providing analytical support to inform strategic Mobile eXperience (MX) decisions.

Provide analysis and insights as well as facilitating key decisions related to managing a fluid market. This role will provide guidance to the organization when it relates to scenario planning to the cross functional group (product, sales, MXLT). Although this role will report directly to Market Planning / Market Intelligence, the successful candidate will have a dotted line relationship to SCM to ensure market modelling is considered in the official SECA MX demand plan.

The role is responsible for building various machine learning tools or processes and be able to work with big data, experiment with various machine-learning algorithms, create prototypes and productionize those prototypes.

Role and Responsibilities

Scenario Planning and Forecast. Deliver bottom-up and top-down modelling to fulfill Samsung’s strategy by delivering key insights on consumer sales trend. Develop an un-biased scenario models to forecast likely outcomes for the quarter, year. Track overall market and business trends via external data sources. Identify key questions, problems, and business key performance indicators using sharp business acumen and judgment. Incorporate retail analytics into scenario planning models. Look for opportunities to automate insights through alerting and anomaly detection. Identify emerging technologies in the AI and machine learning space and develop a strategy to implement their use. Manage projects with cross-divisional impact, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget and quality. Collect and analyze supply data based on Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM), and EDI / POS system such as product sell out, Key model performance, YoY growth etc. Analyze Sell Out inputs from the various SCM analysts, and advise on possible efficiencies, and change. Create, update, utilize a historical data repositories to efficiently provide S/O scenario assessments (MX level + Account). Liaison with SCM, Biz ops, Market Planning and PM team. Update key performance metrics. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.). MBA an asset.

Knowledge:

Demonstrated analytical skills – forecasting, operations, market research. Advanced knowledge of company systems and processes – especially SCM, marketing, pricing, forecasting. Product knowledge – mobility, w/technology aptitude. Expert level spreadsheet skills. Expert PowerPoint skills. Industry knowledge: Mobility, Information Technology. Passion for, and track record of leveraging data for business impact in a multi-channel sales and marketing environment. Ability to write complex and performant queries in your dialect of SQL. Experience building tools and automated processes to extract, clean, and distill data in a procedural languages such as Python and R, potentially Julia. Machine learning expertise: GLM Regression (linear, logit, multinomial), kMeans/Hierarchical Clustering, Principle Component Analysis, & Decision Tree required; Neural Network, Panel Regression, Bayesian Regression, Times Series. Effective data visualization skills with analytical tools, experience with tools/languages Google Analytics, Tableau, etc. Data modeling, ETL and data pipeline development experience. Proven capability to build strong partnerships and work with business partners to effectively negotiate priorities and scope of work.

Experience:

5+ years related experience preferred (Market Intelligence, Executive presentation materials, and Planning). 5+ years of hands on experience in developing Big Data applications using Spark / Scala and building predictive models using Spark Machine Learning APIs.
