Scope of Position

EDF Renewables North America is a market-leading independent power producer and service provider with over 35 years of experience. We deliver grid-scale power: wind (onshore and offshore), solar photovoltaic, and storage projects; distribution-scale power: solar and storage; asset optimization: technical, operational, and commercial expertise to maximize the performance of generating projects, and onsite solutions, through the Company’s PowerFlex affiliate, offering a full suite of onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers: solar, storage, EV charging, energy management systems, and microgrids.

The Senior Accountant position has the responsibility of ensuring all day-to-day accounting, including tasks specific for operating assets or development stage assets under construction, are properly researched, documented, and recorded in accordance with applicable guidelines. Specifically, the supporting authoritative International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) guidance is adhered to. This person will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our reporting processes, including such financial related items specific to adhering to the accounting guidelines.

Responsibilities

Perform and oversee the day-to-day accounting entries and reconciling adjustments. Ensuring adjusting entries are performed timely and accurately in accordance with IFRS. Perform and oversee the completion of the supporting schedules and related analysis of workpapers, ensuring relevant account reconciliations and job cost reports, if applicable, are completed timely and accurately. Perform detailed review and needed research relative to required deliverables, to ensure accuracy within specified materiality limits. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and annual IFRS audit, including disclosures, ensuring they are in accordance with the applicable reporting guidance. Serve as a workflow and technical mentor to accountants, provide support, as appropriate. Interface with other departments and business personnel regularly to ensure the reflection of our business transactions in the ledgers in an efficient and accurate manner. Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor or his/her designee.

Qualifications

Education/Experience –

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting or finance. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, either in-progress or designated, OR legacy Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified General Accountant designation (CGA). A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within an accounting department (public practice, from a mid-tier or Big 4 CA/CPA firm); High level proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel; and Previous experience successfully handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities –

Excellent administrative, organizational and communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Experience working in a fast-paced environment; and Ability to manage time and work under tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

Three days of the week will be working in-person, in office in the Calgary downtown core. The remainder of the work week will be remote or in the office at the employee’s discretion.
