1 FTE role (40 hours/week) & 1 PT role (20 hours/week)

Salary range: $19.00 – $22.00/hour

The Opportunity:

The Mentor for the Kistesimaw “Eldest Brother” program to provide direct support for young boys under the age of 12. The selected candidate will provide positive mentorship to boys and help prevent future police contact through advocacy support, structured recreation, cultural based activities, and school based support activities accessed through utilizing community resources, and providing support for the child and family as needed.

What You Will Be Doing….

Responsible for developing and providing feedback on program delivery tools; Implementing, evaluating, and monitoring of the program; Day-to-day management of the program and participants; Facilitating, planning, and delivering youth activities: Provide creative and sincere mentorship and support; Recruitment of participants; Ensure that traditional knowledge is incorporated in the design, development and delivery of the programs; Safe transportation of participants;

Who You Are:

Demonstrated understanding of the male role influence when working with boys; An active and engaged mentor to ensure participants attend recreational and leisure activities, appointments, referrals, educational, cultural and other resources; Detailed case notes documenter and able to produce report documentation; Able to program plan, prep and facilitate; Maintain regular contact with participants and families, and collaterals; Demonstrate and incorporate cultural knowledge competence; Strong understanding of child development processes;

You Have:

Relevant post-secondary education, or combination of education and experience; One – two (1-2) years’ experience working with Indigenous boys, ages 12 and under; A valid Manitoba Driver’s License , clear drivers abstract and reliable
