About The Role – 27249 - Geological Technician (Canada)

The purpose of this position is to provide: 


1. In-field technical support training to customers involving instruction in the use of, trouble shooting and general advice
2. Sales support involving demonstrations of products and proposal drafting, which relate to Axis Mining Technologies suite of equipment and services.


We are open to this person being based in the following: 


• Timmins, Ontario 
• Sudbury, Ontario 
• Toronto, Ontario
• Val d'Or, Quebec 


The role requires you to travel around 50% throughout Canada with some travel internationally.

What you will be doing

Responsibilities 


Carry out in field instruction in the use of Axis suite of products to Axis’ customers and agents mostly on mine-sites and/or in remote locations
Trouble shoot problems and provide support to customers regarding the Axis suite of products
Check and calibrate survey tools
Arrange delivery/receipt of rental equipment
Provide demonstrations and presentations to current and prospective clients
Draft proposals and quotation for new and recurring business
Any other tasks as directed by management


Specific Duties


1. Instruct operators in the concept of, use of and maintenance of the Axis suite of products
2. Advise customers and operators on the correct application of the Axis suite of products
3. Trouble shoot problems customers may have with the Axis suite of products
4. Analyze data to determine validly of survey results
5. Assist in the development of instructional material for the Axis suite of products
6. Check survey tool functionality and calibration as required
7. Schedule travel and tasks to ensure customer requirements are met
8. Liaise directly with customers (current and prospective) regarding travel arrangements and site access requirements
9. Where required assist the rental co-Ordinator setting up rental kits
10. Other tasks as directed by management from time to time.

1. Cooperate and support activities undertaken by Axis Mining Technology to comply with OHS legislation. 
2. Comply with OHS procedures.
3. Adopt work practices that support OHS programs.
4. Take due and reasonable care of your own health and safety and the health and safety of others who may be affected by your conduct or actions in the workplace 
5. Seek guidance for all new or modified work procedures.
6. Ensure that any hazardous conditions, near miss incidents, injuries or unexpected events are reported immediately to your supervisor.
7. Not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any person in the workplace 
8. Not willfully or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of environmental health and safety or welfare 
9. To work in accordance with current OHS policies and procedures.
10. Always use correct personal protective equipment.

What you will bring

1. Must have a valid Canadian Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
2. Knowledge of drill-hole survey equipment, systems, and processes is nice to have
3. Basic understanding of drilling principles and practices, Diamond drill, is nice to have
4. Solid attention to detail
5. Ability to perform manual tasks
6. Energetic personality able to multitask and priorities workload
7. Demonstrated ability to be a team player and work cooperatively with other stakeholders to further develop the organization.
8. Strong ability to work with confidential information
9. Strong level of Accuracy
10. Preparedness to work underground, as needed
11. Ability to communicate at a professional level in English and French, is nice to have but not required, since this role will be supporting internal and external customers inside and outside of Quebec
