Overview

This position is only available to candidates located in the province of Quebec, Canada.

What You'll Do

The Platform Engineering Team is looking for a talented and experienced Database Administrator to join our dynamic team of 10 talented members from Canada, the US, Central America, and South America. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining our current infrastructure, both the on-prem data center and the cloud systems. You will also facilitate the migration from the on-prem to our cloud infrastructure. Additionally, you will provide guidance in designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining our company’s databases.

Day-to-Day

Monitoring: Regularly check database performance and capacity.

Backup & Recovery: Ensure data is backed up and can be recovered in case of emergencies.

Security: Manage user access and implement security measures to protect data.

Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance by fine-tuning queries and configurations.

Patch Management: Keep database software up to date with patches and updates.

Support Development: Assist developers with database design and optimization.

Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve database issues to minimize downtime.

Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations and procedures.

Capacity Planning: Plan for future resource needs to ensure scalability.

Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain plans to recover data in case of disasters.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills

Expertise in Database Administration: Administering MySQL. An impressive history of successfully designing and implementing business processes into highly functional and efficient code. Proficient in implementing and overseeing company data management practices and policies, with hands-on expertise in administering, managing, migrating, and optimizing databases. Possesses a strong grasp of data and schema standards and fundamental concepts.

Experience Administering MongoDB.

Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Equivalent: Extensive hands-on experience with Cloud SQL, MongoDB Atlas, Firebase Firestore, and IAM, or equivalent cloud services.

Some experience with Terraform or Equivalent: Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code via Terraform.

SaaS Experience: Familiarity with working and integrating with SaaS products and services.

Nice-to-have

Experience migrating from on-prem to Cloud

Soft Skills:

Advanced Problem-Solving: P rovide a history illustrating your strategic problem-solving skills, which will be critical in shaping the organization’s short-term goals and overall success.
