About Horizon School Division
The Horizon School Division office is located approximately 100 km east of Saskatoon in the thriving community of Humboldt, SK. The Division serves approximately 6,400 students located in 32 communities. This progressive Board is known for its strong support for small schools, effective professional development, high teacher engagement, innovative approaches, and sound fiscal management. The school division is located on Treaty 6 and Treaty 4 territory, and is comprised of 43 schools including partnerships with seven First Nation Authorities. The Divison runs the first provincially operated school in Canada located on George Gordon First Nation. 

The Opportunity
Horizon School Division is currently accepting applications for a Replacement Part-Time (0.50 FTE) Speech and Language Pathologist to commence on August 26, 2024 and conclude end of day June 30, 2025.

Working under the direction of the Superintendent of Student Services, the Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide specialized support for students with exceptional needs. The Speech and Language Pathologist is a specialist in providing diagnostic and programming services for school children with communication, language, speech, voice, articulation, swallowing, fluency, hearing and other related challenges. The Speech and Language Pathologist consults and collaborates with Principals, classroom teachers, parents, and other Student Services personnel or agencies to support student success in learning.

Schools and communities to serve will be determined at a later date. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities The Role Description for the Speech and Language Pathologist is outlined in Role Description Experience working within the elementary and secondary school context. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team including teachers, school administrators, support staff, parents and professionals from other agencies. Demonstrate ability to build good interpersonal relationships and establish positive rapport with students, colleagues, administrators and parents. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skill in human relations, leadership and conflict management. Qualifications Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized post-secondary institution A minimum of one (1) year experience as an SLP or equivalent would be considered and asset. Eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologists. Preference may be given to those who meet the requirements for a Professional “B” Teacher Certificate. Valid driver’s license
