About the role
 Join CMHC’s Model Initiative Team in the Senior Analyst, Modelling position. In this role, you will apply advanced analytical skills to model development, implementation and the interpretation of model results with the ultimate purposes of informing decision making and enhancing risk management.
 
What you’ll do: 

  • Contribute to model development to inform business’ risk management decisions employed for purposes such as own risk and solvency assessment (ORSA), B-15 climate risk management reporting, financial reporting, and stress testing.
  • Use various techniques to mine, geocode, merge, clean and transform data to be used in models and analysis. Optimize codes to ensure data quality, stability, reliability, and replicability.  
  • Use programming, statistical analysis, geographic information, machine learning, maps, and mathematics to develop and implement in production new models, tools, and analysis.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders (ex.: model users, model validation, modelling experts, etc.) and provide analytical solutions and implement model changes to meet their needs and address their concerns.
  • Ensure models are developed, documented and subject to appropriate controls in accordance with CMHC's model risk policy and industry best practice.


What you should have

  • Postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Quantitative Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Geography or other quantitative field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of one year of experience in modelling, model validation, quantitative analytics, finance, statistical analysis, or economic analysis. 
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous analysis using critical thinking and judgment to resolve complex issues and support business decision-making. 
  • Ability to work in a sophisticated technological environment utilizing various modelling and programming tools


It would be great if you also had:

  • Professional designation (Actuarial, Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional Risk Manager, Financial Risk Manager, Certificate in Quantitative Finance).
  • Demonstrated experience with Python, PySpark, GIS coding, ArcGIS, Azure and Databrick to be considered an asset.
