Scope:
Cloud Platform Services supports the GOAs fully integrated Cloud products Cloud landing zones and M365 services that enable APS staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently as they deliver valuable programs and services to Albertans. The Cloud Platform Services area is also responsible for the continuous service improvement and continuous service development of those services and products.

Reporting to the Director, Cloud Platform Services, the Technical Architect resource will provide the planning, coordinating, development, documenting and delivery of multiple M365 and Cloud related projects and services; from the analysis phase through to the implementation phase. The Technical Architect may also be involved in managing other team members and providing architectural governance as required.

The Technical Architect will review and understand departmental and corporate policies, business rules, data requirements and supporting system processes and ensure the objectives and schedules align with GoA goals and objectives.

This Technical Architect will provide recommendations, including details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied.

This resource will have working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures. The resource must have a sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks. We require this resource to have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. A proven ability to function on an individual basis and in a team environment is essential. Resources awareness of existing GoA and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset.

Work Experience
Experience designing, planning, implementing and supporting infrastructure and application solutions in an architecture capacity for an environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
Experience developing on cloud platforms and utilizing cloud services in development.
Experience in IT infrastructure architecture and the relationships among the components that make up an IT service from end-user devices to servers, networks, storage, applications and data.
Experience supporting an enterprise IT environment.
Duration - Experience working directly on site with end user troubleshooting technical computer.

Work Experience
Direct involvement in developing best-practices documentation.
Experience assisting clients to execute strategies with technology, process, organizational design and IT operations.
Experience in completion of migration of applications and other technologies from one environment to another. E.G. Moves between data centers, moves to different platforms, moves to the cloud from on-premise installations
Experience in defining technical architecture, building technical environments.
Experience leading an organization through a large scale technology change impacting.
Experience using MS Office 2010 products or higher versions.
Experience working in or for the public sector.
