Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining large industrial textile processing equipment, as well as facility maintenance. Tasks include start-up and shut-down procedures, electrical troubleshooting, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and other systems. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.

Essential Functions:
- Installs, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on industrial processing equipment, water levels, water systems and other equipment and systems.
- Troubleshoots electrical issues.
- Responds to daily maintenance requests in a timely fashion to minimize equipment downtime.
- Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
- Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
- Looks for opportunities to continually improve maintenance processes.
- Works with all plant personnel in a cooperative and professional manner.
- Strictly adheres to all safety rules, policies and procedures required by Alsco, law, and what is recognized as common practice in the industry.
- Ensures work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications. Remains current on equipment and repair procedures and best practices.
- Studies blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct operation of machinery.
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics.
- Maintains accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
- Follows written and verbal instructions and performs other tasks as directed by supervision.
- Complies with all Federal, State and local laws.

Additional Functions:
- May work with and support other branch personnel as required by supervision.
- Drive and pick up parts, transport equipment, parts, etc.

Qualifications:
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record free of chargeable accidents, speeding or other safety violations.
- Minimum of two years maintenance engineering experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder and boiler applications.
- Proficient in the proper use of power and hand tools.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3 phase 230 volt systems.
- PLC programming experience.
- Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to comprehend and follow direction, perform basic math, good time management
- Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred.
- Some locations may require relevant certifications, a boiler license or PLC programming.
Typical Physical Activity:
- Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, kneeling, working in confined areas, reaching overhead, driving a forklift, grasping, moving equipment, pushing, pulling, moving loaded carts weighing up to 500 lbs, lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs, reading, writing, speaking, hearing.

Typical Environmental Conditions:
- Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature, noise, odors, humidity, lint and dust, in general offices or on outside grounds.

Travel Requirements:
- Occasionally, such as to procure parts.

Le technicien d’entretien est responsable de l’installation, de la réparation et de l’entretien de l’équipement industriel de transformation du textile de grande taille, ainsi que de l’entretien des installations. Les tâches comprennent les procédures de démarrage et d’arrêt, le dépannage électrique, l’entretien et le fonctionnement des chaudières, le soudage et le coupage, l’hydraulique, le pneumatique, le mécanique et d’autres systèmes. Ce poste relève de l’ingénieur en chef.

Fonctions principales :
– Installe, répare et effectue l’entretien préventif de l’équipement de traitement industriel, des niveaux d’eau, des systèmes d’eau et d’autres équipements et systèmes.
– Dépanne les problèmes électriques.
– Répond aux demandes d’entretien quotidien en temps opportun afin de minimiser les temps d’arrêt de l’équipement.
– Assure les réparations d’urgence ou non planifiées de l’équipement de production.
– Diagnostique les problèmes, remplace ou répare les pièces, fait des essais et des ajustements.
– Recherche des occasions d’améliorer continuellement les processus de maintenance.
– Travaille avec tout le personnel de l’usine de manière coopérative et professionnelle.
– Respecte rigoureusement toutes les règles, politiques et procédures de sécurité exigées par Alsco, la loi, et ce qui est reconnu comme une pratique courante dans l’industrie.
– S’assure que le travail est effectué de façon sécuritaire et efficace.
– Maintient ses connaissances techniques en participant à des ateliers éducatifs et en examinant les publications techniques. Se tient au courant des procédures de réparation et de l’équipement ainsi que des pratiques exemplaires.
– Étudie les plans et les manuels du fabricant pour déterminer le bon fonctionnement de la machinerie.
– Maîtrise la lecture des schémas électriques.
– Maintient des registres précis et en temps opportun de l’entretien effectué.
– Suit les instructions écrites et verbales et effectue d’autres tâches selon les directives de la supervision.
– Respecte toutes les lois fédérales, provinciales/de l’État et locales.

Fonctions additionnelles :
– Peut travailler avec ou soutenir d’autres membres du personnel de la succursale selon les exigences de la supervision.
– Conduit et ramasse les pièces, l’équipement de transport, les pièces, etc.

Compétences :
– Détient un permis de conduire valide et conserve un dossier de conduite exempt d’accidents, d’excès de vitesse, ou infractions relatives à la sécurité.
– Minimum de deux ans d’expérience en ingénierie de maintenance avec une connaissance particulière des machines, de l’électricité, de l’électronique, de la plomberie, de l’hydraulique, du pneumatique, de la soudeuse et des chaudières.
– Maîtrise l’utilisation appropriée des outils électriques et manuels.
– Solide capacité de dépannage électrique des systèmes triphasés de 230 volts.
– Expérience en programmation d’automates programmables.
– Expérience en menuiserie, en réparation de chaudière, en soudage et en réparation générale des installations.
– Bonnes aptitudes pour la communication orale et écrite en anglais, capacité à comprendre et à suivre les directives, mathématique de base, ainsi que de bonnes aptitudes pour la gestion du temps
– Esprit d’équipe, enthousiasme, initiative et fierté à l’égard du travail bien fait ; esprit d’initiative qui se consacre à l’amélioration continue de la qualité.
Éducation :
– Diplôme d’études secondaires ou équivalence préférable.
– Certains emplacements peuvent nécessiter des certifications pertinentes, un permis de chaudière ou une programmation d’automate.
Activité physique reliée à l’emploi :
– Se tenir debout, s’asseoir, marcher, se pencher, fléchir, s’étirer, effectuer des torsions, s’agenouiller, travailler dans des espaces confinés, atteindre des objets en hauteur, conduire un chariot élévateur à fourche, saisir, déplacer de l’équipement, pousser, tirer, déplacer des chariots chargés pesant jusqu’à 500 lb, soulever et transporter des charges d’un maximum de 100 lb, lire, écrire, parler, écouter.

Conditions environnementales typiques :
– Les zones intérieures et extérieures d’une installation de buanderie industrielle typique qui comprend travailler avec et autour de machines de grande taille, des variations de température, de bruit, d’odeurs, d’humidité, de charpie et de poussière dans les bureaux ou les terrains extérieurs.
