VP, Financial Control

Our client, an international financial institution, offers a broad range of financial services centered on banking. They are also engaged in the leasing, securities, credit card, investment, mortgage securitization, venture capital and other credit related businesses. They are currently seeking a VP Financial Control for their Toronto office. This role requires an initial in-office training period. After completing the training, the position will transition to a hybrid model, with three days per week in the office.
Snapshot of the Role:
The Vice President, Financial Control will be responsible for creation and maintenance of control structures surrounding the periodic preparation of financials and other meaningful business information, such as cost accounting, budgeting, compensation, product profitability and other financial analysis. Evaluate controls and processes to streamline activities and produce accounting data with multiple uses. Preparing financial reports in accordance with OSFI requirements and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Japanese generally accepted accounting principles (JGAAP).
Your Key Qualifications:
- University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Business.
- CPA with 3 years prior experience with one of the big 6 audit firms. Global audit exposure considered an asset.
- 3 years accounting experience with a bank, preferably a Schedule III bank/foreign bank in Canada.
- 3+ years Regulatory reporting experience - IFRS reporting (IFRS9), OSFI reporting mandatory.
- 3+ years experience in audit, controls and change management.
- 2 years prior experience mentoring/coaching a team.
- Detail oriented, precise, deadline driven and accurate.
- Ability to communicate with various levels at an organization, including external auditors and executive leadership.
