Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings Ltd., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is immediately seeking experienced  Sandblasters  for a 4-month project located at Buntzen Lake in Anmore, BC. The position entails a shift rotation of 3 weeks on and 1 week off, with 12-hour workdays. Responsibilities include stripping and recoating the entire exterior of an above-ground penstock spanning 1,800 feet, which involves surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and applying an exterior coating system.

Compensation

  • $26 to $35 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Summary

The Sandblaster will primarily be responsible for cleaning and refurbishing metal trailer exteriors, industrial equipment and other surfaces using specialized equipment and techniques. This position is responsible for the operation of sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces for the next step in the production process.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ related experience in sandblasting.
  • Completion of college/vocational or technical training.
  • Knowledge of corrosion-control methods and processes.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of controlling, adjusting, starting and stopping sandblasting equipment for both grinding and polishing processes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read blueprint instructions.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Experience using a spray gun.
  • WHMIS Certification.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.

Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings Ltd., is a privately-owned company based in Maple Ridge, BC. Located on the Fraser River, our fabrication and coatings facility produces customized pipeline welding solutions for our clients including fabrication, spooling, alloy welding, and specialty coatings.
