Position Overview

Autodesk has built one of the most impactful content creation software production teams in the world. We are looking for a Senior Software Animation Developer to join us, focusing on the products in our media and entertainment business. By joining our team, you will become an active contributor to the growing success of our industry-leading digital content creation products used for film, television, games and more.

As a Senior Software Developer on the Animation team , you will contribute to main software feature enhancements and artist tools and workflows for Maya, 3ds Max, and Motion Builder. Projects will include animation and rigging feature workflows and performance optimizations. There will be interesting opportunities to work on projects that leverage Machine Learning, GPU compute, multi-threading, scalable algorithms, and Web Development. Development tasks involve exposure to different VFX and games technologies, open-source projects (e.g., USD, AnimX, OTIO), language integrations / APIs (e.g., Python, C++) and software development infrastructure.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Software Development based in Canada. This role is hybrid with the primary location in Montreal, Canada. Autodesk supports FLEX working model.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality code and technical designs

Work with a cross-functional, agile team to refine functional requirements

Ensure new code conforms to standards and meet feature specifications

Participate in peer code reviews

Write and maintain automated tests to ensure that software is stable and reliable

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of professional programming experience

Strong object-oriented, software architecture, and C++ skills are required

Practical knowledge of Modern C++ (C++11 and above)

Ability to break down complex problems into user-focused solutions

Knowledge of Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Geometry, specifically as they apply to animation programming

Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and to adapt to changes

Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Enjoy working and collaborating with both technical and non-technical audiences

Interest in the development of scalable, performant software, leveraging hardware and software solutions

Interest in the fields of VFX and Video Game production

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with GPGPU programming (preferably OpenCL)

Experience using Maya and/or 3ds Max

Experience developing Maya and/or 3ds Max Plugins

Experience working with Machine Learning concepts and technologies

Experience with Animation or Rigging in a production environment, either directly or through supporting an Art team

Working knowledge of Mocap and Retargeting workflows

Familiarity with HumanIK in Maya, MotionBuilder, or Game Engines

Experience working with Unreal Engine

Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python)

Experience with Frontend Web Development (e.g. React)

En tant que développeur(se) principal(e) de logiciels au sein de l'équipe Animation , vous contribuerez aux améliorations des fonctionnalités des logiciels principaux ainsi qu'aux outils et flux de travail des artistes pour Maya, 3ds Max et Motion Builder. Les projets comprendront des flux de travail de fonctionnalités d’animation et de montage, ainsi que des optimisations de performances. Il y aura des opportunités intéressantes de travailler sur des projets qui utilisent l'apprentissage automatique, le calcul sur processeur graphique, le traitement en plusieurs unités d’exécution, les algorithmes évolutifs et le développement Web. Les tâches de développement impliquent une exposition à une variété de technologies d’effets visuels et de jeux, de projets source libre (par exemple, USD, AnimX, OTIO), d’intégrations de langages / API (par exemple, Python, C++) et d’infrastructures de développement logiciel.

Vous relèverez du ou de la gestionnaire principal(e) du développement de logiciels basé(e) au Canada. Il s’agit d’un poste hybride et l’emplacement principal est à Montréal, Canada. Autodesk prend en charge le modèle de travail FLEX.

Responsabilités

Développer des conceptions techniques et du code d’excellente qualité

Travailler avec une équipe agile et interfonctionnelle pour affiner les exigences fonctionnelles

S’assurer que le nouveau code respecte les normes et les spécifications des fonctionnalités

Participer à des examens de code entre pairs

Rédiger et tenir à jour des tests automatiques pour garantir la stabilité et la fiabilité du logiciel

Exigences minimales

Au moins 5 ans d'expérience professionnelle en programmation

Solides compétences en architecture logicielle orientée objet et en C++ requises

Connaissance pratique du C++ Moderne (C++11 et supérieur)

Capacité à décomposer des problèmes complexes en solutions axées sur les utilisateurs

Connaissance de l'algèbre linéaire, du calcul et de la géométrie, notamment en ce qui concerne la programmation en animation

Capacité à gérer plusieurs priorités concurrentes et à s'adapter aux changements

Solides compétences d’analyse et de résolution de problèmes

Envie de travailler et de collaborer avec des publics techniques et non spécialisés

Intérêt pour le développement de logiciels évolutifs et performants, tirant parti de solutions matérielles et logiciels

Intérêt pour les domaines des effets visuels et de la production de jeux vidéo

Compétences souhaitées

Expérience en programmation GPGPU (de préférence OpenCL)

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $98,600 and $144,650. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
