Accounting Analyst

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for an Accounting Analyst to join our Oakville team. The Accounting Analyst is responsible for day to day, as well as month end, finance and accounting duties related to branches of Spark Power’s Western Canadian region. The primary focus of this role will be on treasury accounting & general accounting, in addition to providing support to the regional project accountants. The focus on excellent internal customer service through regular communication and delivery of essential data to the branches will be key to the success in this role. While performing the tasks, the analyst is expected to look for process improvements leading to quicker turnaround times, transparent reporting, and improved customer service.

What will do you as the Accounting Analyst ?

Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, including corporate credit cards Conduct monthly credit card reconciliations Maintain fixed asset workbooks, calculate, and post monthly depreciation Conduct Balance Sheet variance analysis and month-end balance sheet reconciliation Review and post payroll entries for respective business units Prepare sales tax returns for western Canadian businesses Regularly review inventory and accrued purchases accounts, investigating discrepancies Assist with Work-In-Progress and Cost of Goods Sold analysis for regional branches Assist with quarterly and year-end audits Post and review journal entries (prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, payroll) Maintain account balances and bank statements Manage the general ledger and month-end/year-end close processes, including lease accounting Manage group intercompany elimination on a monthly basis Oversee cash flow forecast/actuals at a consolidated level and prepare cash flow reports for internal/external stakeholders Maintain company accounting procedures and processes · Perform other duties as assigned Diverse customer base-including: industrial, commercial and institutional

Education - University degree or Diploma in Accounting/Finance is preferred or 3-5 yrs related experience in lieu of Strong concepts of accounting fundamentals is a must Experience with month-end accounting processes Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a positive attitude Excellent interpersonal and communications skills Ability to work independently Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize assigned tasks Demonstrated ability to meet defined deadlines and KPIs Eager and career-oriented attitude with a desire to grow professionally
