Sinai Health is looking for an experienced professional to join our Fund Accounts team as a Junior Accountant. The Fund Accounts team at Sinai Health is central to operational effectiveness, supporting various departments across the system in financial reporting, financial planning and analysis.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Fund Accounts this position will provide exemplary accounting support and customer service to internal and external clients consistent with best practice. The Junior Accountant is responsible for providing a wide range of professional accounting activities as it relates to the fund accounts, requiring competent knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices. The position requires independent work under broad direction and within established accounting systems to handle specialized assignments including compliance and other reporting as required by granting agencies. The junior accountant will work as part of a team ensuring quality, accuracy and timeliness of financial information provided to various stakeholders both internal and external to the Hospital.

Responsibilities

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Fund/Trust portfolio, including:

Responsible for reviewing transactions charged to the Internal Orders (IO) of the Fund/Trust portfolio and obtaining Manager’s approval prior to processing; Preparing journal entries for the IOs with the appropriate support such as invoices, approved transfer forms, etc. Providing customer support to the owners of the IOs in collaboration with the Manager; Monitoring monthly IO deficits and investigating the source of deficits; Responsible for professionally maintaining IO files by eliminating unnecessary outdated papers from file folders; Responsible for maintaining electronic file folders on the shared network drive; and Other duties related to the position as assigned. Job Requirements Successful completion of a university degree or college Diploma in a related field (e.g. Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, etc.) from an accredited educational institution. Two or more years of experience with proven knowledge and application of general accounting principles. Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of MS Access and Excel. Experience working with accounting software (SAP) preferred. Demonstrated aptitude for analytics and solution-based problem solving; strong ability to effectively analyze quantitative and qualitative data sets to identify and shape meaningful strategy / action plans. Proven interpersonal and relationship building skills; professional, diplomatic and confident with a proven ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements, priorities, impacts, and solutions. Flexible with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking and dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and changing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and customer service. Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
