Stuart Olson is currently seeking Apprentice Welders, Pipefitters with experience working as a Welder’s Helper for our client site in Cold Lake, AB for a August 2024 start date for a turnaround anticipated to end early/mid September 2024. Working a schedule of 6 on, 1 off, 12 hours/day. LOA provided for qualified candidates. Preference will be given to local candidates.

Responsibilities

The Welder’s Helper, assumes responsibility for all welder helper duties required on industrial scope turnaround projects:

Assists with welding functions. Load and unload materials and move materials to work area. Operate and care for equipment and machines. Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe. Follow instructions from crew Lead Hand and Foreman. Assist craft workers. Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Working Conditions

Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions Working at heights Working in and around noise and dust Must be clean shaven Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

Qualifications

Apprentice ID Valid driver’s licence H2S Alive Confined Spaces Fall Protection Experience in heavy oil operating environment Experience in maintenance processes an asset Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions Positive attitude to safety Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude Superior written and verbal communication skills Pre-site Drug and Alcohol testing

Physical Requirements

Stand or walk for long periods of time Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 25kg Climbing stairs/ladders regularly Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools Work with full face mask in CSE
