We’re looking for a full-time Lower School Teacher LTO to join our team. Acting as a Homeroom Teacher, you’ll provide instruction in a variety of subjects including Language, Math, Science and Social Studies. You’ll build a well-rounded classroom environment that is safe, respectful, nurturing and supportive of each individual child and dedicated to the development of the whole child.

Preparing, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans for students in Mathematics, Language, Science and Social Studies, individually and in groups, consistent with the Bayview Glen curriculum and differentiating these plans according to student needs Using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students Observing and evaluating each student’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health Maintaining timely and effective communication with students, parents and faculty Promoting a classroom environment dedicated to the BVG “Whole Child, Whole Life and Whole World” educational philosophy Meeting with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determining their priorities for their children, and suggesting ways that they can promote learning and development Developing and maintaining current, accurate and confidential progress reports for each studentWhat You’ll Need:
A Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary/Junior or equivalent Membership, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Teachers One to two years of experience working with children at the Lower School level Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adjust style to communicate to different audiences (i.e., children, staff, etc.) Demonstrated maturity, creativity and problem-solving abilities Flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of the children Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, engaging and welcoming demeanor Excellent knowledge of child development and supervision principles and practices Demonstrated passion for the intellectual, social and emotional development of children within this age group Ability to adapt learning plans, strategies and methods when the classroom approaches are not getting measurable results. Ability to differentiate teaching approach and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students in the classroom Experience with Structured Literacy and the delivery of Direct Instruction programing is an asset Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy considered an asset Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school communityHere's What We Offer:
