We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer who will contribute their outstanding skills to the planning, design and furnishing of a wide variety of projects. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of architecture and a passion for design innovation and excellence. They will work closely with Principals, Associates, Interior Designers and Architects in a collaborative studio environment to contribute design ideas and provide direction to project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design

Understand, develop, and execute all phases of a design project including proposals, contracts, budgeting, concept, planning, design, documentation, specifications, finishes and materials selection, furniture specifications, construction, QAQC, and closeoutStrive for design solutions that promote innovation and are thoughtful and functionalMaintain industry connections and introduce project teams to new materials that are innovative, sustainable and compliant with LEED and building code standardsParticipate in resource allocation for interior design projectsContinually strive for improved efficiencies while reducing drawing and specification errors and omissionsWork with teams to develop interior finishes and specificationsEmbrace the opportunity to be involved in a variety of project work, potentially working on multiple projects at any given timeCoordinate all FF&E and interior architectural plans, finishes and products with the client and project consultants as necessary

Leadership

Lead and work collaboratively with Interior Designers and Architects in the development of interiors conceptsInitiate and maintain contact with key project individuals to clarify, coordinate and negotiate critical issuesDemonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing prioritiesBe proactive and foresee issues before they arise while ensuring project teams execute required deliverables on or before project deadlinesParticipate in design charrettes and critiques that offer insight and challengeContribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design, technical quality, and client serviceCreate sound relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and suppliers, to promote repeat businessAssist in the development of project goals, targets and schedulesDirect and review design development, construction documents and shop drawings for content, accuracy, and overall design integrityServe as primary contact for all sub-consultants, supporting the relevant project teams

Management

Manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously with minimal or no supervisionBe responsible for project budget managementPrepare promotional material and participate in Business Development activitiesContinue to demonstrate excellent communication while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, consultants, and suppliersMaintain positive client relationships and ensure clients apprised of regular project progress throughout the duration of a projectParticipate in managing the interior design team regarding staffing, project assignments and internal educationEnsure consistent engagement, review and co-ordination with consultants and drawings documents throughout projectDemonstrate superior organizational skills and be efficient with time managementMentor Junior, Intermediate, and Intern designers in all aspects of design including office standards and policies Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and/or ArchitectureMinimum 10-15 years’ experience as an Interior DesignerARIDO/IDC certificationHigh proficiency in RevitKnowledge of 3D Modeling software, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign graphic software an assetVariety of project work experience in both the commercial and residential sectorsBCIN, LEED, and/or Well certification an assetAbility to oversee, direct, and mentor project teams with minimal oversightKnowledge of design resources and evidence of creative sourcing/products, and creative problem solvingProven client management skills and experienceTeam player that thrives in a collaborative studioExcellent time management skills and the ability to balance multiple project demands
