Emergency Medicine physician wanted

Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) is seeking emergency physicians located in in the Town of Yarmouth in Southwest Nova Scotia this regional hospital serves a population of approximately 60,, in three counties. The successful candidate may also participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Yarmouth and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University. YRH was originally founded in and has developed into a vast health care complex serving the 58, people of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby Counties. YRH has inpatient beds and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite programs:

  • Dalhousie School of Nursing
  • veteran’s unit
  • chronic pain clinic
  • kidney clinic

Responsibilities
  • examine patients, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • act as a patient advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations

Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS)
  • all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the (CFPC)
  • membership with the (CMPA)
  • (ACLS)
  • (BCLS)
  • (CCrISP)
  • (NRP)
  • (PALS)
  • emergency department experience an asset
