QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, planning, sustainability or related field, with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience managing technical projects in an energy, facilities, or related field, plus one or more of the following:

  • Registered Professional Engineer,
  • Registered Engineering Technologist or Technician,
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM),
  • Masters in Clean Energy,
  • Journeyman Electrician, HVAC Technician, or Power Engineer (2nd class minimum),
  • LEED AP or other certification deemed equivalent to those listed here.

Skills And Abilities
  • Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for energy management, sustainability, or related field,
  • Proven ability to gain consensus from stakeholders, as well as prepare and deliver a convincing business case,
  • High level of knowledge of energy efficiency and conservation technologies and best practices,
  • Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, boilers, building automation, lighting, envelope),
  • Proficiency with computer applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
  • Demonstrated "continuous improvement" approach to work,
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills, as well as superior interpersonal skills,
  • Able to manage time well, meet commitments, and work independently with minimal direction or supervision,
  • Experience with designing, commissioning or optimizing building HVAC systems in healthcare,
  • Certification in Construction or Facilities Management,
  • Awareness of the special design and operating requirements for hospitals in Canada,
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
