Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.

Position

Superintendent, Piping , Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the General Manager, Construction, this position will be a fly in- fly out 6x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

Schedule and coordinate all pipefitting construction activities to ensure adherence to the Back River Project established schedule; Coordinate with other trades and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment; Review plans, designs, blueprints, and other documents to determine if they meet industry standards, federal/territorial regulations, and site safety requirements prior to work commencing; Coordinate and supervise of installations, testing and inspection of piping support and mechanical equipment; Ensure pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, are according to specifications; Manage daily field activities to ensure the ongoing development of the project. Inspect work in progress to ensure that it meets quality standards and is being performed in a safe and efficient manner and identify areas of improvement as required; Study project specifications with Pipe Superintendent to plan sequencing and schedule for pipe installations; Ensure that B2Gold Nunavut’s construction goals are met, and team members are provided with the tools, guidance and systems required to perform work safely and efficiently; and Adhere to and support B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

Ten (10) years’ of experience in Supervision of construction piping and or fabrication, with preference given to those with experience working on remote site with limited resources; Journeyman Red Seal Steamfitter-Pipefitter Certification required; Ability to understand and provide feedback on construction IFC drawings, mine plans/ schedules, and blueprints; and Valid CSTS-20, H2S Alive, Confined Space, Fall Protection and CSTS certificates are considered an asset.
