Jacob Bros Construction is immediately hiring a Controller to support the Accounting & Finance team at our head office in South Surrey, BC. 

Please note this position is 100% office based.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Reports to the CFO; supervises and directs Accounting & Finance Team
  • Leads Monthly Job Cost Reviews with Project Managers
  • Directs procedures and systems necessary for the maintenance of proper records and adequate accounting controls and services
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for each corporate entity
  • Manages analysis of operating companies
  • Prepares year-end financial statements in partnership with CFO and external accountants
  • Monitors and controls Capital Asset Accounting
  • Maintains Chart of Accounts, G/L, sub-ledgers, and inter-company reconciliations
  • Maintains Sage Accounting System
  • Ensures compliance required by regulatory agencies including GST, PST, Corp Tax etc.
  • Oversees hourly employee payroll,  including reconciliation of WCB and T4’s
  • Processes salaried employee payroll
  • Reviews and streamlines work processes and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with the CFO
  • Oversees filing systems; both electronic and hard copy
  • Special projects and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
Requirements:
 
  • Minimum five (5)+ years of progressively responsible financial management experience in a medium size private enterprise or similar environment
  • Proven management and supervisory skills are required
  • Proven track record of forming positive working relationships with every level in the organization
  • Professional accounting designation or pending completion required
  • Construction or related industry experience strongly preferred
