About the role

We’re looking for an Underwriter I, Commercial Lines, to join the team in our Edmonton, AB office.

What you'll do here:

Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development. Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company. Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency. Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate risks.


What you bring to the table:

1 to 2 years of relevant Commercial Lines underwriting experience preferred Strong sales and customer service skills CIP designated or actively working towards it Maintain a current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto Demonstrate the ability to handle moderate risks Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues Strong negotiating skills and business savvy Initiative and ability to work under pressure Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools. No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
