What you'll do

Responsibilities

The Employment Specialist is responsible to the College/campus for the facilitation and support of employability skill development for participants with disabilities in Achieve Program. As a member of the Achieve Program you will work closely with employers, the business community and service providers. You will provide leadership and guidance that will enable persons with disabilities to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for long-term employment. Specifically, you will support the development of employability skills, provide job coaching and coordinate work experiences.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in human services, social services or related discipline. You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. Occupational experience that includes facilitating workshops or groups or with adult education would be considered an asset. You have experience and are proficient with computer applications such as Brightspace, Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work. Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset. Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
