The Opportunity

Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the Canadian Business Unit, seeking a Senior Project Engineer. Based in Calgary with periodic field travel, this role will report directly to the Manager, Facilities Engineering and be an integral part of the Canadian Business Unit Facilities team. The successful candidate’s mission is to maximize the value of Vermilion’s assets by providing technical and project engineering leadership on the Mica 8-33 battery expansion project. The Mica 8-33 battery project is located in North East BC near Dawson Creek and is part of the overall development of Vermilion’s Mica field. The successful candidate’s main goal will be to ensure the safe, efficient and economical planning and execution of the battery expansion. In pursuit of this goal, the candidate will incorporate considerations for asset reliability, on-line performance, and overall lifespan while ensuring that risks are identified and dealt with in a proactive manner. 

This is a contract position with Vermilion Energy. The successful candidate will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.

What you will do

 Project Engineering for the planning and execution of the Mica battery expansion project includes: Design Scoping/DBM Development, Cost Estimating, Regulatory Approvals, Development of Construction/Execution plans, Equipment and Services Procurement, Contract Administration, Schedule and Budget Control, Commissioning and Startup Support

Actively participating in and promoting Vermilion Energy HSE initiatives

Implementing Vermilion’s Project Management (VODP) and Management of Change (MOC) Processes on the battery expansion project

Providing support to other small MOC projects in the Mica area as requested

What you will bring

in Engineering

Registered with EGBC and APEGA

Intermediate to Senior project engineer with a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience, with emphasis on project engineering of oil and gas facilities projects

Familiarity with a gated project management system

Experience with the design and execution of compressor addition projects will be considered an asset

Understanding of HSE, Asset Integrity Management System, Technical Specifications and integration of such into engineering projects

Personnel management skills, focused on consulting engineers and contract construction personnel, with a particular focus on continuous learning processes and high performing operations

Demonstrated HSE leadership qualities

Efficient and precise communication as the position requires interaction with team members, service companies and regulatory agencies

Strong interpersonal, leadership and critical analysis skills

Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals
