We are presently accepting resumes for a permanent full-time Behaviour Analyst to provide clinical skills instructions and develop individualized Behaviour Support Plans (BSP's) based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to people we support in home and community settings. Design BSP's to assist people we support with challenging behaviours to maintain a better quality of life by providing them and their support team with skill acquisitions and positive strategies to manage behaviours to achieve their goals and meet their full potential.


Compensation package:

  • Minimum starting rate of $42.02 per hour;
  • 11 statutory holidays are observed, with public holiday pay;
  • 4% vacation pay paid on each pay cheque;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum Requirements for this position include:

  • Proven successful completion of a master's degree, specializing in psychology, education or other subjects related to the field of behavioural science.
  • Registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario with a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) designation and in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board is required.
  • Formal training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five years recent full-time clinical work experience working as a professional within a multidisciplinary team providing behaviour analytic services to various populations with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), conducting behaviour assessments, developing behaviour interventions and analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated use of assessment tools and behavioural, cognitive, psychosocial and environmental assessments related to responsive behaviours.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theories, methods and techniques in developing programs based on the principles of ABA for individuals with a dual diagnosis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with persons with a dual diagnosis, proven experience with challenging behaviours and implementing Behaviour Intervention Plans.
  • Strong assessment, planning, priority setting and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in the field independently, without daily supervision while planning and delivering ABA services.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership and managerial principles in an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, crisis intervention and counseling skills.
  • Strong empathy for individuals with dual diagnosis.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance administrative and clinical duties to meet strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computer operations and software applications.
  • Current valid certificates in First Aid/CPR, and Safe Management Group Crisis Intervention.
  • Current valid driver's licence and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment.
  • Knowledge of current quality improvement and risk management concepts and approaches.
  • Understanding of The Council on Quality and Leadership, Personal Outcome Measures is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Providing services to individuals using applied behaviour analysis, and positive behaviour supports.
  • Performing functional behaviour assessments; develops and oversees implementation of individual behaviour protocols and plans and organizes community follow-up and consultation.
  • Developing objective monitoring systems which track the frequency, duration and intensity of maladaptive behaviour, as well as data evaluating antecedents and consequences.
  • Responsible for obtaining necessary consents for the assessments, analysis and treatment plans,
  • as well as following appropriate storage and retention methods to maintain privacy and security
  • of documents.
  • Completion of behavioural assessment report through behavioural assessments using direct and indirect measures.
  • Setting up clear objectives or targets for behavioural change that can be evaluated.
  • Evaluation and assessment of risk along with development of plans to mitigate risk due to maladaptive behaviour of the supported person.
  • Responsible for the review, approval and ongoing monitoring for all behaviour support plans, and relevant protocols.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of training initiatives for Behaviour Assistants, community partners, direct support employees and families.
  • Developing skill acquisition programs along with data collection procedures to evaluate performance.
  • Makes data driven decisions to amend treatment plans in consultation with person supported, families and the clinical team.
  • Sharing new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals across the organization, professional associations, and the community.
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders, including clinical partners, community agencies and practitioners, to coordinate comprehensive care and support for individuals supported by Empower Simcoe.
