Position Overview 

Responsibilities include the safe and environmentally compliant production, testing and manufacture of products within prescribed quality specification ranges.  Participates in plant safety, environmental, quality and production programs and audits.  Understands and troubleshoots equipment; assists with housekeeping, maintenance, and equipment preparation activities. 

Job Responsibilities 

The operator of the urea-formaldehyde resin manufacturing process is required to perform the following tasks during the course of their workday:

  • Follows all EHS and plant requirements.  
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area.  
  • Carry out inspection checks of the mixing vessel of the different chemical components.
  • Maintain a commitment to safety by preventing illness, injury, and championing environmental protection.
  • Wear the prescribed PPE for the task at hand.  Including but not limited to, hard hat, steel toed footwear, sealed eyewear, and respirators.
  • Operation of manufacturing process control equipment and perform operations requirements such as truck loading and unloading.
  • Operating the forklift.
  • Issue and monitor safe work, hot work, and confined space permits.
  • Track, monitor and log operating conditions.  
  • Follow procedures to produce quality compliant product.
  • Maintain accurate material inventories.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High School or GED completed.
  • College degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • Relevant experience in general industrial or chemical manufacturing industry of 2 years preferred.
  • Basic fluency in the English language.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to perform/solve mathematical problems.
  • Forklift operation experience or the ability to become forklift certified.
  • Must work well with others and function in a team environment.  
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Have troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to use a computer effectively. Knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications.  
  • SAP knowledge is an asset.
  • Ability to read, develop and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating SOPS, maintenance instructions, manuals and diagrams or schematics.
  • Physical: walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, twisting, reaching, kneeling, handling, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing. Going up and down flights of stairs daily.
  • Aptitudes: intelligence, verbal, numerical, motor coordination and familiarity with traffic functions and TDG regulations.
  • Working in any weather condition.
  • You may be required to wear a respirator for confined space and similar activities, and we cannot allow facial hair.
  • Ability to accept responsibility, adapt to situation involving interpretations of information, or facts; evaluate and decide course of action, perform repetitive work; perform duties under stress; adapt to situations requiring preciseness' and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
  • Attention to Detail, sitting and monitoring activities on a computer screen.
  • Ability to communicate information to others regarding production, quality, EHS items.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule.
  • The diverse work involves other movements such as climbing tanks by a ladder, carrying equipment, using heavy tools, attaching harnesses, and working at heights.
  • Perform repetitive tasks inside tanks using shovels and scrapers.
