Job Description

AECOM's Transportation Engineering Group in Calgary is growing  We are seeking Senior CAD Technologist in our Roadways/Highway Team to support delivering a range of urban and rural road and transit projects. Working within the Transportation team, this position is ideal for someone who wants to further their professional development with a leading design firm. Project types range from highways, roadways, interchanges, LRT/transit, rail and/or civil site design. 

 

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Analyzes and adheres to the project CAD standards.
  • Prepares finished design drawings from sketches, notes, and layout details in CAD 2D and 3D.
  • Works in engineering project collaboration software platforms (i.e., ProjectWise, BIM360).
  • Perform quality checks through self- and peer-quality reviews
  • Works in a team-based environment that involves coordination with colleagues based in different offices.
  • Performs the responsibilities under limited supervision.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff and provide quality oversight.

 

 


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma +4 years applicable experience working as CAD Technician on transportation projects.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of CAD software (AutoCAD and Civil 3D)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 15+ years applicable experience
  • Microstaion
  • Member of ASET with CET or able to obtain CET within 6 months.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office
  • Experienced using common data environments Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM360) and Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Working experience in modelling using Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication
  • Experience working for City of Calgary and/or Transportation and Economic Corridors
  • Ability to work in both the in-person and virtual environment.
