Position Summary:
Under minimum supervision, performs warehouse worker duties. Assignments require the exercise of independent discretion, judgment and a thorough understanding of company/department policies and procedures. Employees will work both independently and as part of workgroups or teams.
This position provides the labour required for the warehouse operations within the distribution centre.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Replenishment
Freezer/Cooler Selection
Perform freezer/cooler selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailersEnsure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets/carts selectedEnsure loading of product selected is in its proper place on the company trailerResponsible for load quality and reliabilityPut away all returns at the end of assigned shiftDry Selection
Perform dry selection: Accurately selecting product to be loaded on company trailers.Ensure proper stop sequence and construction on all pallets selected.Ensure loading of product selected is in its proper place on the company trailerReceiving
Perform receiving duties: The accurate receiving of all in-bound loadsCorrect any labeling issues during put away or restocking that could result in errorsTo ensure proper dock flow, work with other receivers in directing the activities of the put away teamPerform the put away function as needed.Resolve any receiving issues before the end of assigned shiftPutaway
Perform put away duties: The accurate put away of all productPlace received product in reserve slots nearest pick location, unless otherwise directedRotate product in racks before placing newer product into a slotAs needed, break down loads to fit into company rackingResolve all put away errors throughout assigned shift. Error file must be free of errors by the end of assigned shiftGeneral Responsibilities
Change batteries in equipment as neededCheck and evaluate work against quality standardsEnsure work area is kept clean at all timesOrganize own work to maximize safety and efficiency. Identify and correct potentially unsafe situations and conditionsPerform all other related duties as assignedScope of Supervision and Authority
Responsibilities are performed with minimum supervision and communication from the Warehouse Shift SupervisorEnsure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulationsOther projects or duties as assignedRequired Skills and Experience:
High School or equivalent experience and exceptional abilityMust be able to work in a cold or freezer environmentAble to repetitively lift and move heavy boxes (up to 55lbs)Warehouse experience in high-volume, food-service, distribution or logistics or equivalent experience is an assetForklift and electric pallet jack experience is an assetTeam playerGood communication skillsGreat work ethic, high initiative, self-motivation and positive attitudeAbility to multi-task, time management skills, detail-orientedEffective problem solving skillsThis position must pass a post-offer background checkPhysical Demands and Work Environment:
