Position:  Full-time (40 hours per week), permanent

We are currently looking for 2 bus mechanics to service our fleet of vehicles. You will be tasked with performing regular preventative maintenance, repairs and CVIPs, while being challenged in systematic utilization of our fleet, shop facilities, efficiencies, and safety of our fleet. We offer competitive wages, ongoing training and development, and a family-oriented team environment. You will be based in Terrace, but also required to go to our shops in Kitimat and Prince Rupert as needed.

Job Description:

Follow and comply with both company and BC Transit policies, procedures and guidelines Diagnose, examine and investigate to determine causes of defective operation of vehicle components with the use of computer diagnostic equipment Determine proper course of action to facilitate vehicle repair, maintenance, adjustment and component replacement of the Transit fleet Operate buses in order to diagnose component failure or move buses when required Work with Shop Management to maintain schedules and priorities Perform government Inspections (CVIP) Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs Suggest areas for additional training and assist with training of apprentices Attend company training programs as required

Employment Requirements:

Journeyperson Certification will be required (Truck and Transport, Heavy Duty); Applicant must be eligible to challenge exam if not yet certified Valid driver’s license Air brake endorsement or willing to obtain CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License desired Trade diploma / Registered apprenticeship or equivalent is required Minimum 3 years of work experience is required Must have analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills Fluent in English – must be able to read and understand parts and service manuals Proficient with computer equipment Health & Safety Knowledge – OH&S rules and regulations guidelines
