Adult Counsellor (full time)
Native Healing Centre - Health Services
Join our dedicated team at Prince George Native Friendship Centre, an Indigenous-led organization committed to supporting the holistic well-being of our community members. We are looking for a compassionate and culturally informed full time Adult Counsellor to provide individual and group counseling services. In this role, you will work with adults to support mental health, healing, and personal growth through culturally safe practices and proven counselling techniques. QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Social Work or a related field. Master's degree considered an asset
- Experience with counseling clients, ideally with a focus on adults, trauma and/or addiction
- Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution
- Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search
- Have knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices
- Utilize a strength-based approach to work with clients
- Ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals
- Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open-minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate, mentoring participants within the context of their identity, family, community, tribe, history, culture, and traditions
- Strong crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on empathy and respect
- Familiarity with local community resources, social services and health care systems
- Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry. In accordance with section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code.
- Starting wage $31/hr. to $34/hr. based on qualifications and experience.
