About the Role 

The Support Services Manager reports to the General Manager and/ or designate, and is responsible for the day to day operations of Food, Housekeeping and Laundry services to all persons served in the community.

Responsibilities

Include but not limitedto;

Engage and mobilize your team to achieve thepurpose, goals, objective and key results of the organization. Be an engaged collaborative team player,developing and maintaining professional relationships that support andstrengthen the organizational culture and purpose. Model the values and leadership behaviours of organization and inspire other to do the same. Ensures compliance with all standard operatingpolicies, procedures and other operational foundations required in theprovision of Food Services, housekeeping and laundry services. Manages assigned budgets. Participates in the development of operationalplans and goals for each department consistent with the community/organization’s mission and strategic plan. Gathers and tracks performance indicators andother surveys accurately; analyze and report to the management team asrequired. Develops action plans in consultation withGeneral Manager and other stakeholders. Performs and/or delegates ordering, receivingand related procurement tasks ensuring compliant application of procedures andpolicies. Establishes and maintains inventory supplylevels utilizing methods that minimize spoilage, loss and waste. Actively supports the recruitment and retentionof all departments and monitors staffing levels. Involved in the performance management of staff accordingto established HR policies and procedures. Hires, disciplines, recommends and / orparticipates in the termination of staff according to established HR policiesand procedures. Participates in developing, implementing andevaluating, orientation, training and education programs for assigned staff. Coordinates Food Services, Housekeeping and Laundryrelated in-services and annual educational opportunities for staff. Plans and delivers seasonal menus that arecompliant with all related regulations, fit the resident’s nutritional andtherapeutic needs, and meets the facility and resident’s expectations. Develops and / or adjusts standardized recipesto ensure consistent high quality production outcomes including preparation ofindustry standard, nutritional, textured requirements, quantity, portion sizes,and resident satisfaction. Coordinates regular department meetings andparticipates in community based meetings such as site leadership, Occupational Health& Safety, and others as required. Liaises with all departments in the planning anddelivery of special events / meals and programs as required. Plans, directs and implements contingency plansin response to emergencies and / or challenges to or interruptions in services. Understands and participates in qualityimprovement. Maintains a safe environment forresidents/family and staff, through: Accident prevention,Knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations, supplies and equipment, Appropriate utilization of infection controlprocedure. Perform all other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills

Graduation from a recognized program inNutrition and Food Services Management. Member in good standing or eligibility formembership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management and/or RegisteredDietician. Food Safe Level 1 mandatory; Level 2 an asset. A minimum of two years Support Services managementand supervisory experience in a senior housing setting (Food Services,Housekeeping and Laundry). Experience managing unionized staff an asset. Current Serving It Right Certificationmandatory. Allsuccessful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Checkapplicable to Provincial guidelines. High standards for customer service, food safety, physical space & environmental cleanliness.  Solidunderstanding of infection control protocol Maintaininga professional appearance. Abilityto push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to workwith cleaners, detergents and other cleaning equipment. Abilityto work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to operate related kitchen, housekeeping & laundry equipment  Abilityto read, write and speak English proficiently. Solidworking knowledge of related office equipment and Windows based softwareincluding Word, Excel and Outlook. Abilityto handle multiple tasks at one time.
