Your Opportunity:

The Pharmacist I will play a key role in providing patients with quality health care and will have the opportunity to learn and grow within an inter-professional team. This position is divided equally between Leduc Community Hospital (LCH) and Devon General Hospital (DGH). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems. Active participation in patient care rounds and liaising with members of the health care team. Documentation of clinical interventions for expected and real outcomes. Drug stewardship and application of evidence-based medication related recommendations for the management of various medical conditions. Utilizing relevant and appropriate resources available within Alberta Health Services for drug information queries. Preceptorship and mentoring of pharmacy students, residents, and other pharmacists. Medication distribution at Devon site. LCH and DGH sites provide a collaborative environment, where you’ll be able to work to your full scope of practice and provide exceptional patient and family-centred care. As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy is required. New Pharmacy graduates, licensed with ACP in 2024, have 1 year effective their original AHS hire date, to achieve APA status.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of an accredited hospital pharmacy residency program. Recent Connect Care practical inpatient pharmacist experience. Recent experience in an acute hospital/direct patient care setting providing comprehensive medication management services.
